BIO
I consider myself a self-taught artist. Born and raised in Hillsboro, Oregon, by parents seeping with artistic talents; my mother an accomplished painter, my father a master carpenter. I breezed through high school art classes with the highest marks, but had a hard time making the grade in college; lacking confidence I flunked out or withdrew from all my art classes. I raised my two sons during my early 20s and 30s, stealing moments to be creative. It took me a long time to find a direction for my art. I tried many different mediums and methods throughout the years; ceramics, watercolors, acrylics, oils, etc. It was a friends remark of high praise on the piece that I titled “Cali Flower” that had the biggest influence on my current work. Soon after I decided that I would create 12 Bugs using this same technique; being born on the 12th day of the 12th month...it only seemed fitting to have a goal of 12 works.
My moments of recognized artistic success have been few, but blissful; I have sold ceramic platters at local galleries including Graystone Gallery in Portland. I have created CD covers for local musicians/groups, including the Oregon Chorale , and Brenda Dickey. I have published event posters for the Hillsboro Tuesday Marketplace 2006, Hillsboro Farmers' Market, 2006, 2008,and 2009 as well as ElvenGlade Memorial Day 2007 and Thanksgiving Day 2007 wine tasting events. Additionally, I have sold a few prints of my Bugs, and had them on display at Pushdot Studios and the the Walter's Gallery in Hillsboro.
